Prof Donald Chang honored American Physical Society Fellowship

2023-11-06
HKUST Emeritus Professor Donald Chang was selected to become an American Physical Society Fellow, recommended by the American Physical Society Topical Group on Medical Physics (GMED).

The number of recommended nominees in each year may not exceed one-half percent of the then current membership of the American Physical Society, excluding student members. It is a prestigious recognition by Professor Chang's peers of the outstanding contributions he has made to physics.

Here is the citation that will appear on certificate:
“For pioneering contributions to the development of the spin-echo NMR technique for cancer detection, for fundamental understanding of the physical basis of contrast generating mechanisms in MRI, and for demonstrating how powerful the technique could be.”
