The Second Reunion of the Retired Professors' Association (RPA) was held on May 24, 2024. It was a half-day event with a fruitful program at the Clearwater Bay Campus. Former colleagues and friends participated in a dialogue with Senior Management representatives, where Professor Yike Guo (Provost) and Professor Tim Cheng (Vice-President for Research and Development) presented the latest developments and strategic directions of the University. The members demonstrated their enthusiasm by asking questions and sharing perspectives based on their experiences. Read more

The RPA had its First Reunion on May 12 and 13, 2023. Old colleagues had lunch at the Clearwater Bay Campus, learnt its recent developments, followed by a dinner hosted by Professor Nancy Ip and the Annual General Meeting 2023. On the second day, the group headed to HKUST Guangzhou Campus and visited Minxin School, an international school with close relationship with HKUST. Read more

The Retired Professor Association of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (RPA-UST) has successfully registered as an official society in Hong Kong.

The Executive committee members of RPA recently met with UST’s VP-RD, Prof. Tim Cheng, to explore ways to engage the retired professors to contribute in the mission of research and education at UST. One of the possibilities is to invite some of the retired professors to be mentors for younger faculty members, so that we can help them to prepare for grant proposals. Subsequently, our VP-RD consulted with some of our Deans and agreed to support this idea. Read more

The 1st RPA-UST Executive Committee Meeting was held today. The elected Executive Committee members - Professor Donald Chang, President; Professor Francis Lui, Vice-President; Professor Tongxi Yu, Treasurer; Professor Po Lock Yue, Honorary Secretary and Professor Chia-Wei Woo, Founding Member and Advisor of the RPA-UST attended the meeting.

An Inaugural Meeting of The RPA-UST was held today - an association organized by retired professors, to help members maintain meaningful connection to the University community through intellectual engagement, representation, and advocacy. Nearly twenty retired professors participated the meeting. Professor Wei Shyy and Professor Chia-Wei Woo were invited as Advisors of the RPA-UST. During the meeting, RPA-UST founding members elected RPA-UST’s President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Honorary Secretary. The elected Executive Committee members are Professor Donald Chang for the RPA-UST President, Professor Francis Lui for Vice-President, Professor Tongxi Yu for Treasurer and Professor Po Lock Yue for Honorary Secretary.
