The Second Reunion of the Retired Professors' Association (RPA) was held on May 24, 2024. It was a half-day event with a fruitful program at the Clearwater Bay Campus. Former colleagues and friends participated in a dialogue with Senior Management representatives, where Professor Yike Guo (Provost) and Professor Tim Cheng (Vice-President for Research and Development) presented the latest developments and strategic directions of the University. The members demonstrated their enthusiasm by asking questions and sharing perspectives based on their experiences.
Following the dialogue session, the Annual General Meeting was convened. Executive Committee members updated the group on the progress of various initiatives, and discussed how the members could further contribute to the University. At the end of the meeting, members agreed to make minor amendments to the RPA's Constitution; new Executive Committee members for the upcoming term were also elected.
A dinner gathering hosted by Professor Nancy Ip (President), Professor TC Pong (Vice-President for Administration and Business) and Ms Daisy Chan (Associate Vice-President for Global Engagement & Communications) was held on campus to conclude the reunion event. The President expressed gratitude for the members' contributions to the University over the years, and encouraged them to stay connected after retirement.
In total, 18 RPA members and the spouses of 9 members participated in the Reunion. The members in attendance, listed in alphabetical order by surname, were: Philip Chan, Donald Chang, Shiu Yuen Cheng, Vladimir Chigrinov, Nelson Cue, Wei Min Dai, Albert Lo, Zongli Lu, Francis Lui, Gerald Roe Patchell, Benjamin Peng, Billy So, Kuo-chiang Wei, Yuk Shan Wong, Chia-wei Woo, Hannah Hong Xue, Tongxi Yu and Po Lock Yue.
