Dear members of RPA,
The Executive committee members of RPA recently met with UST’s VP-RD, Prof. Tim Cheng, to explore ways to engage the retired professors to contribute in the mission of research and education at UST. One of the possibilities is to invite some of the retired professors to be mentors for younger faculty members, so that we can help them to prepare for grant proposals. Subsequently, our VP-RD consulted with some of our Deans and agreed to support this idea.
Thus, the Retired Professor Association (RPA) is now calling for participation of her members in a program led by VP-RD Office, in which some of retired professors (together with other senior faculty) will take mentorship, helping younger faculty in preparing research proposals such as GRF and ECS. If you are interested in scientific research and willing to spend time to mentor younger colleagues by reviewing their research proposals, please let us know your availability and the area which you are interested in, so that RPA will put our names together to form a senior talent pool. We will then contact with the VP-RD Office, relevant Schools and Departments to make possible matching between mentor and mentee(s) in due course. The VP-RD Office is going to provide an honorarium (HK $5,000 per proposal) as a small token of appreciation of the effort for working closely with each young faculty.
